BioAgeOS

Accurate, equitable biological age for every population

The calibration layer for epigenetic clocks

BioAgeOS corrects ancestry and pregnancy bias in epigenetic clocks, so your age readouts and risk scores finally match the people you serve.

The Problem

Epigenetic clocks are biased against people of colour and pregnant women, and there are no validated calibration tools today.

Ancestry bias

Major clinical epigenetic clocks were trained on European, non‑pregnant populations. In Black women, some clocks overstate biological age by over 3 years.

Key studies: Lancaster et al.; Doherty et al.; Panelli et al.; Faul et al.; Ryan et al.; Gascoigne et al.

Gestational bias

During pregnancy, current clocks can inflate biological age by 1.6–5.3 years, even in healthy women, because they were never calibrated for gestation.

Clinical risk, not just theory

Each extra year of GrimAge acceleration raises preterm birth odds by ~11–18%, skewing risk scores and trial endpoints.

The Solution

We don’t build a new clock. We make all clocks work for everyone.

Ancestry correction

BioAgeOS removes race‑linked methylation bias from existing epigenetic clocks.

We calibrate tools like GrimAge, PhenoAge, and DunedinPACE so they report true biological age in diverse populations instead of encoding ancestry as “faster aging”.

Gestational correction

Pregnancy temporarily reshapes methylation patterns and inflates current clock readings.

BioAgeOS models a week‑by‑week gestational trajectory, so pregnant women are no longer misclassified as aging years faster, and risk scores reflect biology, not bias.

Pre‑clock calibration layer

BioAgeOS sits in front of any existing clock as a calibration API. Labs send methylation data in and receive ancestry‑ and gestation‑corrected age out.

No new hardware, no new assays, just a software layer that makes every clock clinically usable for everyone.

Mission & Vision

Building the calibration layer that makes epigenetic clocks work for everyone.

Our Mission

To make biological age measurement accurate, equitable, and clinically useful for every population  by correcting ancestry and gestational bias in today’s epigenetic clocks.

Our Vision

A world where epigenetic biomarkers are the trusted standard for preventive care and maternal health, because every clock has been calibrated on the people it serves.

About the Founder

Meet the scientist behind BioAgeOS.

Zehra Azim is a DPhil (PhD) researcher in Pharmacology at the University of Oxford. She is driven by a belief that biological age tools should be accurate, transparent and built for everyone, not just the easiest data to collect. At BioAgeOS, she focuses on embedding equity into the infrastructure itself,  calibrating clocks before they ever reach patients, clinicians or consumers. Her values are clear: protect the people behind the data, refuse shortcuts that compromise trust, and prove that rigorous science and fairness can scale together.”
